Blue Ridge Music Center

The sounds of the fiddle, banjo, and guitar are likely to welcome you when you visit the Blue Ridge Music Center. Experience regional traditional music each day of the week with FREE local Mid-Day Mountain Musicians playing on the breezeway of the visitors center from Noon - 4 PM

Chestnut Creek School of the Arts

Chestnut Creek School of the Arts has three locations in downtown Galax. Our Main building houses the executive offices, several studios such as jewelry, stained glass, music, fiber arts, & more plus our gift shop & artist gallery. We offer classes, open studios, and events at all three locations for all ages and skill levels in traditional music, heritage crafts & contemporary arts.

New River Outdoor Adventures

New River Outdoor Adventures is located in Galax VA and is your one stop shop for all your outdoor recreational needs! Enjoy some of our scenic floats down the beautiful new river from canoe, kayak, tandem kayak, or river tube. River floats rage from beginner, for the family or first-time boater to experienced, for the thrill-seeker. Do you enjoy biking? New River Trail State Park

New River Trail is a 57-mile linear park that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The park parallels the scenic and historic New River for 39 miles and passes through four counties and the city of Galax. The trail's gentle slope makes it great for visitors of all ages to hike, bike and ride horseback.

The Crooked Road

Experience first-hand how music is woven into the rich tapestry of tradition in Southwest Virginia. The variety is amazing - old-time string bands, a cappella gospel, blues, 300 year old ballads, bluegrass, and more. Hop in the car with Lou Reid and Carolina right now as they cruise along The Crooked Road.

The Rex Theater

Every Friday night, from the stage of the historic Rex Theater in the City of Galax, WBRF FM sends out 100,000 watts of live old time and bluegrass music into five states and around the globe via the internet. The show is called Blue Ridge Backroads Live and thanks to a faithful group of volunteers, it has become the cornerstone for the revitalization of this 70-year-old theater.
